Rescue coordinator?

Company officer. In 4 FF engine officer will also assume responsibilities of Spotter.

Spotter

Keep sight of victim. This may include using apparatus. Aerial or TL may be raised.

Ice/cold water rescue: only member that approaches the victim?

Primary rescuer - don CWS. Secondary rescuer don CWS tethered to 2nd line in stand-by position.

All members except __ & __ will be equipped with H/T?

Primary & secondary rescuer. They shall wear PFD.

Three methods used for cold water/ ice rescue?

-reach
-throw
-go

Reach method?

Victim is ambulatory & can assist in their own rescue .

Throw?

When reach not feasible. Using throw rope, rescuer hurls the rope to the victim. Victim wraps rope around arm & pulled to safety

Go?

Used for non-ambulatory. Unable to assist in their rescue or is too far from shore. **last method tried since its most dangerous.

Water rescue - tether attached?

To D-ring on the rear of the harness suit. Ice - front.

Throw method. What hand holds bag?

Dominant hand throws bag while other holds rope.

Stretcher: head?

Head is loaded to end with floatation collar.
-top strap under armpits; across chest
-middle strap across waste of victim
-bottom attached under one leg & over other

One hand placed on top of the rescuers head?

RESCUER is ready to be pulled to shore.

Stop pulling
