What is transmitted light

A light source placed behind the document. Passages of transmitted light through a document reveals security features, damage and anomalies.

What is oblique light

A light source placed on side of document at 45 degree angle, 6-8 inches off page. This will show contours which indicate possible alterations or damage.

Long wave ultra violet light

Used in document examination to identify UV sensitive inks and security threads.

EPO # 4 elements of common documents requested from US citizens and foreign nationals

US citizen persons who were born in the United States and certain territories, derived their citizenship from parents or naturalized. Most common ID are drivers license and ID card. Passport is another valued document.

Military ID/common access card

Common access card is standard ID for all active duty uniformed service personnel, selected reserve, department of defense civilian employees and eligible contractors. No SS number on cards

Persons who are not us citizens or nationals of the United States who have been lawfully admitted into the United States for a specific reason and period of time. The employment authorization card(I-766) and foreign passports are common documents

Immigrant documents

Persons who are not citizens or nationals of the United States who have been lawfully admitted into the United States to reside permanently. Common ID is the original I-551 entitled resident alien. Optical I-551 card entitles permanent resident card. Passport is another common form of ID.
