A

Inflammatory autoimmune disorder causing a symmetrical polyarthritis

what are the signs and symptoms of RA?

A

Symmetrical swollen, painful, stiff joints. Worse in the morning (lasts longer than 30 mins)
MCP, PIP, MTP affected. DIPs spared
ulnar deviation, swan neck, boutonniere deformity
extra-articular: pleural effusions, pericarditis, scleritis, amyloidosis

XRAY (peri-articular erosions, joint space narrowing)
Bloods (+ve rheumatoid factor (Sensitive), +ve anti-ccp (specific)
