  • air is heated by he ground
  • air warms and rises because it is less dense; that creates a low pressure area
  • the warm air spreads out and cools
  • the cool air sinks because it is more dense; that creates a high pressure area
  • wind flows from high to low pressure, the the high pressure area flows to the low pressure area creating wind
