Fluid Mosaic Cell Membrane Model

  1. What does the model consist of?
  2. Membrane proteins

  1. Phospholipid bilayer forming a thin layer of oily fluid
  2. Associate with membranes through protein-protein interactions. Typically ionic bonds. Easily dissociated from membrane
  3. Proteins that are inserted into the membrane and that cna only be dissociated by reagents that disrupt hydrophobic interactions
