Refraction

The bending pf light rays as they slow down as they pass through a different medium.

A plane mirror is a mirror that is flat and reflects the light regularly.

An echo is where you say something and you hear yourself again but further on in the big space because the speed of sound isn't fast enough to be in those two places at once

Is a wave/ray that is reflected of something such as a mirror.

Is a ray which is pure and not reflected.

Peak/crest & trough

The peak/crest is the maximum upward distance of the wave from the centre. The trough is the opposite and is the maximum distance below the wave.

Pitch is the rate at which vibrations are produced, hertz per second.

Fixes long sighted. Converges.

Specular reflection

Specular reflection is when the wave is reflected of a smooth surface such as a mirror or calm water.

Diffuse scattering

Is when the wave is reflected of a bumpy surface such as a table or the floor and all the waves go in multiple directions.

The wavelength is the distance between two peaks of the wave.

Frequency

The frequency is how fast the wave vibrates or goes up and down.

The cornea is the transparent front part of the eye that covers and protects the inside.

the retina receives light and converts them into signals which it sends to the brain.

The lens refracts light rays so that they form a clear image at the back of the eye

Spectrum

White light can be split up using a prism to form a spectrum. A prism is a block of glass with a triangular cross-section. The light waves are refracted as they enter and leave the prism. The shorter the wavelength of the light, the more it is refracted. As a result, red light is refracted the least and violet light is refracted the most, causing the coloured light to spread out to form a spectrum.

In longitudinal waves, the vibrations are along the same direction as the direction of travel. . In transverse waves, the vibrations are at right angles to the direction of travel
