What are the minimum break heights at Leuchars?

A

Standard break height for fast jet and turbo prop is 1200ft, 400kts.

Other AS. Low breaks not below 500ft May be approved on request.

What are the standard light air system joins?

A

From South: Crosswind Rejoin. On reaching the Eden Estuary pilots are to request cross before proceeding to cross the upwind threshold of the runway in use. If ATC have conflicting traffic the AS is to be told hold south side. Conflicting traffic is traffic other than light air systems:
1. On an instrument approach inside 4 miles.
2. On a visual join through Initials.
3. On finals.
4. With a take off clearance.
Light AS may be cleared to cross is they are visual with other light AS and they are the only conflicting traffic.
What fast jet or Tucano is present or anticipated, light AS joining from the south are to hold clear of the MATZ or descend to be not above 800ft before entering the ATZ.

From North: AS are to join downwind at 800ft, avoiding the 1200ft circuit.

What are there standard helicopter joins and hazards to be aware of?

A

Helicopters are to join via one of the gates not above 500ft at the airfield boundary: North Gate, South Gate, Cupar Gaye and West Gate.

Helicopters are not to hover over the laser cloud base recorder situated in a yellow box on the western side of the fire section.

Helicopters intending to manoeuvre within 160m of the watchman are not to hover taxi above 65ft. Parking in vicinity are to arrive and depart via 22/04.

A

Fast jet or turbo prop 1200ft.

Light piston 800ft. Go around live side.

When are low level circuits permitted and what is the limitation,

A

May be flown down to 500ft by FJ/turbo prop including Tucano providing cloud base is now below 600ft.

FJ are not to fly low level when:

  1. Piston AS or helicopters are in visual circuit.
  2. After 1700L.
  3. On RWY08 at night.
  4. When AS are on visual recovery from the North.

Limitation: No more than 6 AS in the circuit. Mixed light and FJ is not permitted during IFR recoveries.

What are the guidelines for mixed FJ and light AS and helicopters?

A

When 2 or more FJ are in visual circuit and remaining, other light AS and helicopters are to clear the circuit or land. Lossiemouth Typhoon have priority, except over emergency.

No glide circuits when FJ are in circuit or inside 8 miles.

No mixing when IFR recoveries.

No turn backs of take off has been granted or finals called.

When can you issue the clearance if visual continue with Twr Stud 2?

A

To station based AS on radar approach during daylight VMC.

ADC must:

  1. Be visual with all AS involved.
  2. Anticipate that the AS with obtain a clearance to use the RWY.

This clearance may not be issued to simulated single engine or Swept Tornado.

What are the actions of ADC on receiving a request for Twr to Twr transfer to Dundee?

A

ADC is to call Deps with AS callsign and intentions. The Deps controller will pre note Dundee and will approve if nothing to affect.

Twr controller should transfer the departing AS to Dundee Twr on 122.905.

Who may use RWY 04/22?

A

Any AS that can accept the LDA and PCN published in en route docs.

RWY 04/22 is for daylight VFR Ops only. It may be used as the main if 08/26 is not required by other AS.

What taxi restrictions and parking rules apply?

A

Fixed wing AS will be parked under direction of AHS. Large AS should be turned onto concrete surfaces rather than blacktop to prevent damage.

Rotary. Parked under direction of AHS. If skids, air taxi to designated parking area. Cautious of rotor tip clearance IVO ASP5. Pilots must call marshalled in sight prior to entry ASP5.

Taxiway G. ADC can upgrade status to RWY when traffic dictates. Broadcast on MRE.
