Lung Anatomy Flashcards
(14 cards)
What are the 3 muscles in Upper respiratory tract?
Nasal cavity, pharynx, larynx
What are the three muscles in the lower respiratory tract?
Trachea, primary bronchi, lungs
What is part of the conducting zone?
Nose, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi and bronchioles
What is the respiratory zone?
Deep inside the lungs made up of the respiratory bronchioles, alvelor ducts and alveoli
Name the lobes on the right side of the lung.
Superior, middle and inferior
Name the lobes on the left side of the lung
Superior and Inferior
What is the trachea
Fibrocartilaginous tube. Extends between the larynx and thorax. Innervation is pulmonary plexus.
What is bronchi and bronchioles?
First bronchi branch from trachea. Branches continue until they reach the final generation of bronchi (bronchioles). They are too small to be supported by cartilage.
What bronchi is more vertical?
The right meaning you will more likely aspriate into the right lung.
What is Alveoli?
Where gas exchange occurs. Increase the surface area for gas exchange. The balance of expansion and recoil determines the size of the alveoli.
What is the Hilium?
The point at which various structures enter and exit the lungs is surrounded by pleura.
What is the arterial circuit?
Arises from the main pulmonary artery arising from the right ventricle.
What is the venous circuit?
Begins with the venules that drain the capillaries. Drain into the left atrium
