1
Q

Nucleus

A

The nucleus is small, dense positively charged atom.

2
Q

Subatomic Particle

A

It is a neutron, electron, or proton.

3
Q

Proton

A

A proton is a subatomic particle that has a positively charge and found in the nucleus.

4
Q

Atomic Mass

A

The average of the masses of the existing isotope in an element.

5
Q

Neutron

A

A subatomic particle with no electric charge, and is found in the nucleus.

6
Q

Atomic Number

A

It is the number of protons in the nucleus of an atom.

7
Q

Isotope

A

An isotope is an element that has a different number of neutrons average element.

8
Q

Mass Number

A

The sum of protons and neutrons in the nucleus of an atom.

9
Q

Atomic Mass Unit

A

It is used to find the mass of a subatomic particle. (like a proton has one atomic mass unit.)

10
Q

Electron

A

It is a negatively changed subatomic particle that is found in the electron cloud.

11
Q

Electron Cloud

A

It is the space where electrons are most likely to be found in.

12
Q

Energy Level

A

The location with in the electric cloud that an electron remains.

13
Q

Quark

A

A particle that makes up all other known particles in the nucleus.

14
Q

Electromagnetic Force

A

It can either attract or repel the particles on which it acts. Opposites charges attract, like charges repels.

15
Q

Strong Force

A

Opposes the electromagnetic force of repulsion of the protons. The strong force “glues” the protons together to make the nucleus.

16
Q

Weak Force

A

It’s responsible for radioactive decay and is the decay to the power of the sun.

17
Q

Gravity

A

It’s the weakest force in nature. Gravity is the force of attraction between objects.
