Supernatural/religious and some rational ways of explaining illness and how to treat & prevent it.

Lots of herbal remedies and basic unqualified surgery.

Catholic Church was all powerful and only allowed some medical ideas while blocking all new ideas

A

Overseas exploration = exotic new remedies.

The beginnings of experiments with chemicals and scientific explanations.

The Catholic Church’s power dropped and the government (King) began supporting new ideas to replace old and wrong logic.

A

A revolutionary turning point took place in 1861.

Nursing and surgery got more complex and more professional.

Treatments & preventions began to look more modern with more support from the government and discovery of the first successful vaccine.

Science and technology helped continue massive progress in all areas of medicine and diseases that would previously kill are now vanquished.

We developed an understanding of diseases we can be born with.

The government has become more and more involved in helping protect our health.
