What are megaloblastic anaemias characterised by pathologically?

Delayed maturation of the nucleus of the red cells in the bone marrow due to defective synthesis of DNA


What can happen to RBCs produced with delayed maturation of the nucleus?

Can die in marrow or enter bloodstream as enlarged, misshapen cells with reduced survival time


What causes megaloblastic anaemia?

B12 or folate deficiency
