I have applied these skills in an academic sense at uni. (for example - Maori legal opinion on how the public works act falls short of tikanga Maori land succession norms - i.e taonga.
Outside uni and at my other jobs I have looked to apply these skills such as manakitanga etc.

team work. Ability to work in a team with a range of people - offered the role to train as a night manager in about 3 months.
What are some of your weaknesses and how am I working on them?
Difficulty to say no
- Football, work, gym, friends want to do something, uni. Very busy, asked to work more. Which I did.
Setting boundaries for myself. Includes making sure that I don’t take on too much stuff. Doesn’t mean that I become lazy but learn what to prioritise and what work needs to be achieved first.
Sometime being a bit shy - public speaking
- e.g. Don’t shy away from opportunities to speak in public - i.e. paper selection. Whenever I have to talk in front on large groups of people I make sure that I am very prepared - reduce the chance of something going wrong
Conflict at work
Talk about a time you had to get someone on your side?
Not clearing out freezer for repairman due to busyness.
- Communication and empathy was important
Paknsave - running out of stock, angry customers, particularly during covid.
Unique?
- Adaptability
- Coming with international experiences and cultural awareness.
What is your problem solving process. With an example?
My approach to problem solving is to involve team members. This helps me understand many different perspective of a problem as I don’t necessarily have all the answers to every problem.
For example extra frozen stock
- got team support
- different idea (individually take boxes off pallets or take them out to the store.
- Flooding at Shake Out
What is your preferred work style with an example?
Im an organised and detail oriented so I like clear structure and deadlines to work towards. If ind it beneficial to have a clear goal which I can work towards and be able to track my progress. This has mainly grown out of university whereby you are given clear structure and deadlines.
Questions?
How would you describe the work culture at the ministry. Are there any uniques elements that arise because it is part of the public sector.
How is it decides what areas grad work in/teams they join.
