They contain two or more substances that are not chemically joined so you can easily separate them.

It is a common way mixtures are made.

What happens in dissolving?
A
When you add a solid into a liquid the bonds holding the solute particles together sometimes break. So the the solute particles mix with the liquid which creates a solution.

What does temperature do?
A
It makes the solute dissolve faster in the solvent because particles gain energy and move faster.
