9
Q

How does ATP release energy

A

Energy is stored in the phosphate bond so when energy is needed by a cell, the ATP is broken down in to ADP + Pi and energy is released from the broken bond

Q

How does DNA replication occur?

A

DNA helicase breaks the bonds between the polynucleotides
DNA unzips causing two seperate stands
The new strands act as templates for free floating nucleotides
Complimentary base pairing occurs
DNA polymerase allows new strands to bond
New DNA consists of 1 old and 1 new strand of DNA
