Muscles For Reflexes Flashcards
(5 cards)
Biceps
-innervated by c5-c6 (musculocutaneous nerve)
-origin: long head (supraglenoid tubercle of the scapula)
Short head (coracoid process of the scapular)
-Insertion: radial tuberosity and bicipital aponeurosis
Triceps (brachii)
-Innervation: radial nerve (c6, c7, c8)
-Origin: long head: (Infraglenoid tubercle of the scapula)
Lateral head: Posterior humerus (superior to radial groove)
Medial head: Posterior humerus (inferior to radial groove)
-Insertion: Olecranon process of the ulna
Brachioradialis (radial reflex)
-Innervation: radial nerve (c5, c6)
-Origin: lateral supracondylar ridge of humerus
-Insertion: styloid process of the radius
Quadriceps reflex (rectus femoris) / knee jerk (L4)
-innervation: femoral nerve (L2, L3, L4)
-origin: anterior inferior iliac spine (AIIS)
-Insertion: tibial tuberosity via the patella tendon/ ligament
Ankle reflex/ jerk (gastrocnemius) S1
-Innovation: tibial nerve (S1, S2. mainly S1)
-Origin: Medial head: Posterior surface of the medial femoral condyle
- Lateral head: Posterior surface of the lateral femoral condyle
-insertion: Posterior surface of the calcaneus via the Achilles tendon
