What is the action of the trapezius?

Superior fibres - elevate scapula
Middle fibres - retract the scapula
Inferior fibres - suppress the scapula
The superior and inferior fibres act together to rotate the scapula for abduction of the upper limb above horizontal

1

What is the innervation of the trapezius?

Spinal accessory nerve (11th Cranial Nerve)

2

What is the action of the latissimus dorsi?

Extends, adducts and medially rotates the humerus

3

What is the innervation of the latissimus dorsi?

Thoracodorsal nerve

4

What is the action of the levator scapulae?

Elevates the scapula and downward rotation

5

What is the innervation of the levator scapulae?

Dorsalscapular nerve

6

What is the action of the rhomboid minor?

Retracts the scapula to tilt the glenohumeral joint inferiorly. It fixes the scapula to the thoracic wall

7

What is the innervation of the rhomboid minor?

Dorsal scapular nerve

8

What is the action of the rhomboid major?

Retracts the scapula to tilt the glenohumeral joint inferiorly. It fixes the scapula to the thoracic wall

9

What is the innervation of the rhomboid major?

Dorsal scapular nerve

10

What is the action of the deltoid?

Anterior/Clavicular fibres - flexes and medially rotates the arm
Acromial/Middle fibres - abducts the arm 15-90 degrees
Posterior/Spinal fibres - extend and laterally rotate the arm

11

What is the innervation of the deltoid?

Axillary nerve

12

What is the action of the teres major?

Adducts and medial rotates the arm

13

What is the innervation of the teres major?

Lower scapular nerve
