2 2 time signature
What is the difference between tempo and Rhythm and how does this apply to the Time Signature?
The Time Signature tells you how many of a certain beat are in a bar. It does not tell what length of Tim equals that beat. e.g could have 3 crotchets in a bar with each crotchet beat being 60bpm on metronome. Or could have 3 crochet beats in a bar(same Time signature) but each crotchet beat could equal 72 bpm (one of these beats, you get the idea). Therefore the time signature just tells you how many of a certain beat are in a bar, not what value of Time beat actually holds (how long it should be held for.) This is the Tempo, how fast or slow the piece is played.
Rhythm is the pattern in which we play the notes, which notes are accentuated and what we tend to remember. We can play the same Rhythm at different tempos, different speeds.
