Glucose
blood test can help determine why patients are having changes in mentation or weakness
Liver Panel
blood test is ordered to reveiw ALT, AST, Alk Phos. It can help determine if patients have encephalopathy.
CPK
this lab test helps determine if there is any muscle damage and breakdown
Thyroid Panel
This blood test includes TSH, T3 and T4. It can help determine why patiens are having fatigue, weakness, mood changes, and myalgias.
Hep B
Hep B testing is ordered to further evaluate for fatigue
Hep C
Hep C testing is ordered to further evaluate for fatigue, depression, and cognitive dysfunction. Chronic Hep C (HCV) can lead to neuroinflammation
HIV/AIDs
this blood test is ordered to evaluate for altered mental status or generalized seizures, hemiparesis, hemisensory loss, visual field cuts, or disturbances in language use.
tTg-IgA
blood test determines if patient has Celiac Disease
CSF Fluid Analysis
Cerebrospinal fluid analysis involves the removal of a small amount of the fluid that protects the brain and spinal cord. The fluid is tested to detect any bleeding or brain hemorrhage, diagnose infection to teh brain and/or spinal cord, identify some cases of multiple sclerosis and other neurological conditions, and measure intracranial pressure. Collected in 4 tubes
Anti-MAG Antibody
blood test helps rule out peripheral neruopathy
IgM and IgG
this blood test helps rule out Lyme’s disease. It can also help determine the caouse of memory loss, fatigue, headache, facial weakness, or generalized weakness.
Kidney Panel
abnormalities with kidney function can affect the central and peripheral nervous systems. common neurological complications in CKD include stroke, cognitive dysfunction, encephalopathy, peripheral and autonomic neuropathies
