A
Iatrogenic - 90%, during endoscopy, biopsy, or dilation. 
Boerhaave Syndrome 
Trauma 
Carcinoma 
Corrosive Ingestion

A

Odynophagia - sore to swallow

Dyspnea SOB

Oesophageal Rupture Signs

A

Fever, Tachypnoea, Shock, Surgical Emphysema - palpable in 30%
Mediastinal Crunch - hamman sign

Oesophageal Rupture Investigations:

A

Oesophagography - confirms diagnosis

X-ray (Chest/Abdominal) - look for mediastinal air, mediastinal widening, or pleural effusion.

Oesophageal Rupture Treatment

A

Conservative - iatrogenic perforations with NG tube, PPI and Antibiotics
Endoscopic Stenting, Surgical Repair.
