26
how do you palpate rectus femoris
- Start on ASIS - move to AIIS - Flex knee - Palpate distally to its attachment at tibial tuberosity
27
how do you palpate Vastus medialis
- Put your person in external rotation - have person extend leg - start on tibial tuberosity - Palpate superiorly to where you lose it under rectus femoris
28
how do you palpate Vastus lateralis
- Put your person in medial rotation - have person extend leg - start on greater trochanter - Palpate distally to tibial tuberosity
29
how do you palpate Biceps femoris
- start on ischial tuberosity - extend hip - move distally onto head of fibula - Palpate distally to tibial tuberosity
30
how do you palpate semitendinosus
- start on ischial tuberosity - palpate inferiorly - flex knee - palpate distally onto back of knee
31
how do you palpate semimembranosus
- start on ischial tuberosity - palpate inferiorly - flex knee - palpate distally onto back of knee - roll medially off of semitendinosus
32
how do you palpate semimembranosus
- start on ischial tuberosity - palpate inferiorly - flex knee - palpate distally onto back of knee - roll medially off of semitendinosus
33
how do you palpate gluteus maximus
- start on greater trochanter - move inferiorly ~1 inch - roll posteriorly onto gluteal tuberosity - extend hip - air palpate diagonally towards attachment onto coccyx, sacrum and posterior iliac crest
34
how do you palpate gluteus Medius
- start on greater trochanter - have person abduct - palpate proximally until iliac crest
35
how do you palpate gracilis
- have person find adductor tendon at crease of thigh - have person adduct - palpate distally until knee
36
how do you palpate adductor longus
- have person find adductor tendon - move distally to middle of thigh
37
how do you palpate adductor magnus
- have person resist you pulling their ankle to find hamstrings - roll off hamstring medially - have person adduct -palpate halfway up thigh
38
how do you palpate tensor fasciae latae (TFL)
- start on ASIS - move posteriorly onto iliac crest -have person medially rotate
39
how do you palpate I.T band
- start on iliac crest - move posteriorly onto tibial tubercle
40
how do you palpate sartorius
- have person cross legs - start on ASIS - press against hand - palpate distally until pes anserine tendon
41
how do you palpate piriformis
- locate greater trochanter - flex knee for external rotation - don't let person pull hand - air palpate diagonally onto sacrum
42
how do you palpate quadratus femoris
- locate greater ischial tuberosity - palpate laterally to greater trochanter
43
how do you palpate iliacus
- start on ASIS - move posteriorly onto illiac crest - bend knee - roll medially into illiac fossa - take deep breaths - sink in on breath out - press knee into hand
44
how do you palpate psoas major
- have person locate belly button - locate ASIS - form finger into M shape - have person crunch to get off rectus andominis - take deep breaths - sink in on breath out diagonally - press knee into hand
45
what is the trail for the ASIS
- start on PSIS - move anteriorly along iliac crest until you reach boney protuberance which is your ASIS
46
what is the trail for the illiac crest
- start on AIIS - move superiorly onto ASIS - move superiorly onto illiac crest
47
what is the trail for the iliac fossa
- start on ASIS - move posteriorly onto iliac crest - move medially into iliac fossa
48
what is the trail for the Ischial tuberosity
- start on ilium - move distally to greater trochanter - palpate medially into gluteal crease and apply pressure superiorly
49
what is the trail for the AIIS
- start on iliac crest - move anteriorly to ASIS - move inferiorly and medially 1/2 and inch to arrive on ASIS
50
what is the trail for the greater trochanter
- start on the middle of iliac crest - move inferiorly through the ilium until we feel round bone
51
what is the trail for the gluteal tuberosity
- start on ilium - move inferiorly to greater trochanter - palpate distally then roll medially onto posterior side of femur
