Organelles In Animal And Plant Cells Flashcards
What are the 14 organelles they share?
- Nucleus
- Nucleolus
- Chromosomes
- Cytoplasm
- Cell membrane
- Mitochondria
- Ribosomes
- Endoplasmic Reticulum
- Nuclear envelope
- Golgi Apparatus/Bodies
- Vesicles
- Cytoskeleton
- Vacuoles
- Lysosomes
What does the nucleus do?
Directs cell activities.
Nucleolus
Where ribosomes are produced and it controls the nucleus.
What are chromosomes?
Contain DNA and make proteins.
What is cytoplasm?
A.k.a. Cytosol and it contains organelles.
What is Cell Plasma/Membrane?
Controls the flow of materials in and out of cell.
What is mitochondria?
Converts glucose to energy.
What are ribosomes?
They make proteins.
What is Endoplasmic Reticulum?
Allows materials to be moved around the cell.
What is the Nuclear Envelope/Membrane?
Double bilayer membrane that keeps DNA inside the nucleus and protects it from the cytoplasm.
What is the Golgi Body/Apparatus?
Sorts and packages proteins.
What are vesicles?
They transport and store material.
What is Cytoskeleton?
Helps the cell maintain its structure.
What are vacuoles?
They are the storage of water and other nutrients.
What are lysosomes?
They contain enzymes to digest materials and waste.
