Indications: Periodontitis ( mouth infection) skin cleanser
ADRs:
Oral: Increased tartar on teeth, staining of teeth, taste change
Topical: Dryness, skin irritation
Additional Notes:
• Patients should use chlorhexodine after brushing teeth
• Caution patient not to swallow chlorhexodine and not to eat for 2 to 3 hours after treatment

• Patients must avoid all alcohol when taking Metronidazole. The combination can lead to a DISULFIRAM REACTION (flushing, headache, nausea, vomiting, sweating)

INDICATION: Treatment and Prevention of UTIs
ADRs: Gastrointestinal upset, headache, urine discoloration ( Orange and Brown)
Additional Notes:
• Use should be avoided in pregnancy at term ( 38-42 wks ) due to possibility of HEMOLYTIC ANEMIA
• Therapeutic concentrations are not attained in patients with renal impairment
• Macrobid is taken 2 times per day;
Macrodantin is taken 4 times per day
