What might cause obturator nerve entrapment?
Compression between fetal head and pelvis
What does the obturator nerve supply?
Innervates sensation for the upper medial aspect of the skin and abductors of the thigh (not the obturator internus though!)
What are the consequences of obturator nerve entrapment?
Reduced sensation in upper medial aspect of the thigh and reduced abductor power
What might cause common peroneal nerve palsy?
What are the signs of a common peroneal nerve palsy?
loss of anterior compartment extensors (foot drop)
What might cause a femoral nerve palsy?
What are the signs of a femoral nerve palsy?
Weak straight leg raise (quadriceps), loss of knee jerk
What does the inguinal canal transmit in men?
Spermatic cord and ilioinguinal nerve
What does the inguinal canal transmit in women?
Round ligament of the ovary and the ilioinguinal nerve
