How are papers and boards formed

Answer 1

Papers and boards are formed from wood pulp, which comes form trees. This squishy wood pulp is rolled out into thin sheets in paper mill factories to form the paper and boards we use.

• Good surface for sketching
• Using coloured pencils for rendering
• Water colours can be used but paper needs to be stretched to prevent cockling
• Heavier papers are more versatile, less prone to yellowing with age and likely to be acid free

• Translucent paper used in the developmetn stages of designing and can be used as underlay. It is semi transparent and is used to copy images

• Similar to cartridge paper, but a protective layer on the reverse tto stop the marker bleeding throuth to the next sheet
• Used by desingers whn draeing with felt tips and marker pens

• Provide a good surface that will accept acrylics, gouaache, pastels and watercolours
• There are 3 main textures available - HOt pressed paper for smooth hard finish, Cold pressed for a rougher surface which enchances finished image and Finally a rougher type of cold pressed paper

• Packaging
• Corrugated card is made from linerboard and the medium( bit in the middle). Cheap and often used for large cartons and boxes, it offers strength without to much weight

• Is a cheap version of white board, it also provides different textures for printing.
• Duplex card is made from pure wood pulp, with a bleached liner on one side.

• Mount board is a good quality thick card. It has a coloured surface and usually used for final models. It is also used for mounting work for example images
