part B sac Flashcards
(7 cards)
what are systematic errors and how do we overcome them?
errors in the data that differ from the true value by consistent amounts. Hapens because of incorect measurements
eg. selcection bias/lack of control group
what are personal errors?
includes mistakes, miscalculations, and observer error when conducting research
happen becayse of assumptions/ expectations of the researcher
e.g misread emotions,observer bias
what are random errors
unsystematic errors that happen by chance
variations in measurement contexts
external events that affect willingness e.g health problems
solutions to random errors
increase sample size
repeating the experiment on another day
solutions to personal errors
used standardised procedures
solutions to systematic errors
account for systematic erors
