What does the assessment process begin with?
BSI/Scene size up

Level of consciousness

A systematic physical examination of the patient
What is reassessment?
Reevaluating the chief complaint and to reassess interventions to ensure that they are still being delivered correctly.
How long should a stable patient be reassessed?
Every 15 mins
How long should an unstable patient be reassessed?
Every 5 mins
What is MOI/NOI?
Mechanism of injury/ Nature of illness
What does triage mean?
To sort…as in prioritizing patients
What is occultation?
Listening though a stethoscope
What does SOB mean?
Short of breath
If respirations exceed 28 b/m what do you do?
Use a BVM

If the fingernails return to red after pushing them

What does quality mean in OPQRST?
How does it feel?
What does radiation mean?
Does the pain move somewhere else?
What does severity mean?
On a scale of 0-10, rate the pain
What does time mean in OPQRST?
How long has this been occurring?
What is Hypotension?
Blood pressure is lower than normal
What is hypertension(HTN)?
Blood pressure is higher than normal
What does DCAP-BTLS mean?
Deformities Contusions Abrasions Punctures/penetration Burns Tenderness Lacerations Swelling
