A
Basically, the clavicle is an S-shaped bone. Its medial end connects to the manubrium of the sternum, and its lateral end connects to the scapula, helping form the shoulder joint. It acts like a brace to keep the arm away from the chest. If the clavicle breaks, the shoulder collapses inward because the support is lost.
