Paranoid Personality Disorder (A)
Pervasive mistrust and suspiciousness of others
Schizoid Personality Disorder (A)
Are detached from social relationships. They are true hermits, preferring life alone and avoiding intimate interactions at all costs.
Schizotypal Disorder (A)
Exhibit the strange behaviors associated with schizophrenia but without the major symptoms (delusions, hallucinations)
(Odd beliefs, eccentric)
Histrionic Personality Disorder (B)
Displays shallow, attention-getting emotions. Goes to great lengths to gain others’ praise and reassurance.
Narcissistic Personality Disorder (B)
Exaggerates their importance, aided by fantasies. Find it hard to accept criticism, often acting in rage or shame.
Borderline Personality Disorder (B)
Unstable relationships and self-image. Hard to control impulses.
Antisocial Personality Disorder (B)
(psychopath or sociopath)
Lack of a conscience. Socially harmful and remorseless. Half will act in violent or criminal ways.
Biological Causes of Antisocial Personality Disorder
- Childhood maltreatment
- A gene that altered neurotransmitter balance
Avoidant Personality Disorder (C)
So sensitive about being rejected that personal relationships become difficult.
Dependent Personality Disorder (C)
Behave in clingy, submissive ways and display a strong need to have others take care of them.
Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder (C)
Unreasonable perfectionism. Need for personal control, order, and organization. Do NOT have full-blown obsessions and compulsions.
