Q

when there are 2 cells that are 9V each, where one is pointed in the right direction whereas the other cell is pointed opposite, what would the total p.d be?

A

0

They would cancel out.

Q

Determine the p.d/voltage of a battery with 3 cells 9V each where First cell pointed in the correct direction, second cell pointed in the correct direction, third cell pointed in the wrong direction.

A

9V=total p.d

9V + 9V = 18V
18V - 9V = 9V
the first 2 cells pointed in the correct direction make 18v
the third cell pointed in the wrong direction cancels the 9V out from the 18V making the total potential difference of the battery 9V
