Peritonitis vs intra abdominal sepsis?

Peritonitis is inflammation of the peritoneum is synomnous with intra abdominal infection
Sepsis if >2 SIRS criteria

Main signs of peritonitis?

Fever, abdominal pain (RUQ: cholecystitis, cholangitis, hepatic abcess, RLQ: appendicitis, LLQ, diverticulitis, epigastric: pancreatitis), abdominal guarding/rigidity, rebound tenderness (pressing hand elicits less pain than removing hand abruptly)

Symptoms of peritonitis without inflammation of the peritoneum

Amox, met, gent (IV/PO for 7 days|)
