What does AIS stand for?
Automatic Identification System
What is the purpose of All Stations?
Used to alert all radio stations that a message is to follow.
What is the Automatic Identification System?
A digital positional awareness system operating in the Very High Frequency (VHF) maritime band.
What is the purpose of the Automatic Identification System?
To help identify ships, assist in target tracking, assist in search and rescue operations, simplify information exchange, and provide additional information for situational awareness.
What is a Band in radio terms?
A group of radio frequencies designated to a particular radio service.
What is Broadband Radio?
Radar using a continuous low power transmission rather than the high power pulsed transmission of conventional radar.

The method used to establish contact with one or more stations.

A vessel identifier issued with the station licence by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (IC).

A special operating agency within Fisheries and Oceans Canada that ensures the safety of mariners in Canadian waters.
What is the role of the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary?
A volunteer organization that works to save lives on the water.
What does CPS-ECP stand for?
Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons–Escadrilles Canadiennes de Plaisance.

A document showing proof of the holder’s qualifications.

A radio frequency that has been designated for a particular purpose.
What is Class A in DSC radio specifications?
A standard that meets all IMO MF/VHF requirements for compulsorily fitted vessels over 300 GT.

A standard that meets IMO MF/VHF requirements for non-pleasure craft not required to have Class A equipment.

A DSC radio specification standard that is no longer approved.
