What is a ratio?

A way to express the relative sizes of two numbers.
Can be written as a fraction with the first number in the numerator and the second number in the denominator, in the form x to y, or in the form x:y.

What is a proportion?
A
An equation relating two ratios
E.g. 12/3=8/2

What is cross multiplication?
A
When the numerators of a proportion are multiplied by the opposite denominators.
E.g. X/y=z/w -> xw= zy
