Can you carry human remains? What about ashes?

A

No.

Ashes are ok, but require, death certificate, cremation certificate, suitable container, hand baggage only.

Name some of the responsibilities of a commander.

A

Safe operation of the aircraft, responsible for the safety of contents and crew.
May offload any pax who is a potential hazard to the safety of the aircraft or occupants (inc drunk).
May deviate from SOP if necessary for safety.

Can we carry musical instruments, specifically cellos?

A

Small instruments fit in overhead lockers.
Where not practical to combine, one extra small hand bag allowed.
Large instruments require seat purchase, next to window, non restricted seat, centre of mass < 30 cm above seat cushion, std weight 10 kg.

No

What levels of bomb warnings are there?

A

Red - specific and credible - requires action/disembarkation
Amber (ground only) - doubtful credibility - discuss with duty pilot
Green - not credible - no action required

What is the difference between a precautionary/emergency landing?

A

Precautionary is one which under normal circumstances there will be no reason to evacuate.

What calls would you make for an unplanned / planned emergency landing?

A

Unplanned - attention crew! Brace brace!

Planned - 2000’ - cabin crew take up landing positions
- 500’ - brace brace

When may a cabin crew member initiate an evacuation?

A

Obvious, immediate and life threatening situation (catastrophic).

What is the definition of catastrophic?

A

Serious structural damage (hole in fuselage)
Death or injuries to occupants
Uncontrollable fire/smoke.
