Definition and what it leads to?

A

Heart muscle damage- damaged myocytes
Causes reduced filling of the ventricles- less blood flows in so less blood is pumped out so this can lead to diastolic HF.

  • ECG- low QRS complexes
  • CXR
  • FBC +U&Es for haemachromatosis
  • autoantibodies for sceleradoma
  • B natriuretic peptide

Treatment

A

Medication: Beta-blockers, diuretics, ACEI,anticoagulants
Surgery: ICD, heart transplant
