Introduction Inspection
Palpation
Anterior rhinoscopy
Closure
Wash hands, introduce self, identify patient. Explanation, consent.
Inspect from different angles.
Erythema, swelling, discharge.
Scars, including columella for open scar. Nasal bones – feel for movement and fracture. Nasal tip support.
Look for normal anatomy of the septum and inferior turbinates, and any abnormal findings.
Thank patient. Wash hands. Discuss and document findings.
