Answer 1

Place small beaker inside large beaker
Use kettle to boil water
Transfer 80cm^3 hot water into the small beaker
Use cardboard with hole as lid
Place thermometer through hole
Record starting temp and start stopwatch
Record temp every 3 mins for 15m
Repeat using a range of insulating materials (using the same mass of each)

Method (material thickness)

Answer 2

Start with beaker containing 80cm^3 hot water.
Record temp every 3m for 15m
Repeat experiment using increasing layers of insulating material
