rps p2 Flashcards
1:conc on rate of reaction
(disappearing cross)
1)cylinder,10cm sodium thiosulfate in conical
2)place on printed black cross
3)add 10cm HCL in conical
4)start stop watch-observes
5)turns cloudy-stop watch,record time
6)repeat w diff concs of sodium thiosulfate-mean
1:conc on rate of reaction (gas)
1)cylinder,50cm HCL in conical
2)attach to bung+deliv tube
3)place deliv tube in container w water
4)place upturned cylinder w water over deliv tube
5)add 3cm strip Mg to HCL-start stop watch
6)every 10secs,measure V of H gas in cylinder till no more is given off7)repeat w diff concs of HCl
2:chromotography
1)use ruler and pencil, draw line 2cm from bottom of paper
2)mark 5 pencil spots at=distances along line
3)use capillary tube to add drops of known/unkown colour/pen ink
4)pour icm depth water in beaker (solvent)
5)attach paper to glass rod w tape-lower into beaker so dips into water (not pencil line)
6)when water travels 3/4 up,remove paper, use pencil to mark water reached, leave to dry
7)observe unknown,calculate Rf
3:water purity
1)check ph of H20-uni indicator paper-green
2)use balance to weight empty evap basin
3)fill basin w water sample-on tripod+gauze
4)use b burner to heat water till evaps-leave to cool then weigh again
3:distillation
1)set up=conical w water on tripd+gauze,b burner under.deliv tube in test tube w beaker w ice+water
2)heat water to gentle boil
3)evaps-water vapour-travels to tube
4)condenses back to water when reaches cold test tube
5)distilled water produced
