Q

What are the Null and alternative hypotheses?

A

Null hypothesis (H0) is the hypothesis of interest.

Alternative hypothesis (H1) is its negation.

E.g. Average grade was 66. H0: μ = 66, H1: μ ≠ 66

Q

What are the two types of errors of hypothesis testing?

A
  • Type 1 errors*: rejecting the Null hypothesis when in fact it is true.
  • Type 2 errors*: failing to reject the Null hypothesis when in fact is is false.
