The air bag is designed to inflate normally in
the event that a vehicle fire causes the canister to be heated above 300 deg. F. It is possible that the air bag will deploy in a car fire, but there should be no fragmentation of the canister. SB79 2.1

Note: Newer systems include the
use of dual stage inflators which basically means that just because an airbag has deployed
it does not mean that there cannot be a second deployment. Em Procedures, Disentanglement 2.6

Note: An Undeployed air bag is UNLIKELY to deploy after a crash, therefore rescue operations
can begin without delay. SB 79 4.1

Note: In the large majority of our
responses the airbags will have already deployed. However our members should ALWAYS
treat the area around the airbag as if they have not deployed. The rule of 5-10-20 should
be observed; at least 5” from side airbags, 10” from driver airbags and 20” from
passenger airbags. EP Disent. 2.6

With the current electrically activated airbag designs, the only method available to emergency service personnel to safely deactivate an air bag system is to disconnect the vehicle’s battery, early in the incident and allow the time necessary for the stored energy to discharge. 5.1

11.3 Windshields: One of three tools may be used when removing a windshield; a windshield
saw, a sawzall or an axe.

Regarding Roof Removal, Cut across the bottom of the windshield using the sawzall with wood cutting
blade. End the cut at the A Post on both sides of the vehicle. The windshield hand saw or axe can also be used to cut windshield. EP Disent 8.2.2
