2
Q

How does heat affect the density of molecules?

A

It’s affects it by heat, making the molecules move faster and faster/this makes the molecules move farther apart, eventually turning into either a liquid or gas

Q

What state of matter is least dense why?

A

Gas is more least dense, because the molecules and atoms are more far apart and move freely more

Q

What is more dense, hot water or cold water? Why?

A

Cold water this is because cold water is closer to the state of an ice cube, which is a solid, and the hot water is closer to evaporating, which is a gas which is least dense

Q

What are the phase changes of matter?

A

Solid to liquid is melting
Liquid to solid is freezing
Liquid to gas is evaporation
Gas to liquid is condensation
Gas to solid is deposition
And solid to gas is sublimation

Q

How does adding or removing energy affect matter? Use the terms, solid, liquid, and gas. In your explanation explain this in terms of the molecular level.

A

Energy changes molecules within the states of matter. For example, thermal energy added to a solid makes molecules move farther apart and change into a liquid. If you then remove the heat from the liquid, then turns back into a solid.
