Science U5 L1 - Critical Thinking Flashcards
(11 cards)
What kinds of biotic and abiotic factors do you depend on?
We depend on food, air and water (abiotic) and on plants and trees (biotic).
Forest ecosystems are more interesting than pond ecosystems. Is this a statement, fact or opinion? Why?
It is an opinion because different people like different things.
List two facts and two opinions about competition.
Fact: Living things with similar needs must compete for those needs. Living things compete for food, space, water, shelter and sunlight.
Opinion: the best shelter is a hole in the ground. the best food is ants.
For what resources other than sunlight might plants compete?
Nutrients, space, water
Can a person have a niche?
Yes, a person has a role to lay in their environment. Children must students, adults must have a specific job.
How can competition be harmful to organisms?
Competition can take resources from some organisms. Organisms with different niches do not compete with each other.
Opinion
A personal feeling and two people might have a different feeling.
