Scrooges vow to change
“I will honour Christmas in my heart and keep it all the year” (Stave 4)
He makes this realization after seeing his grave with the ghost of Christmas future, he is made aware of what will be with him and society if he (society) does not change his ways - darkness will fall upon the world. He vows to keep the Christmas spirit around all year.
The eye opening to his moral blindness
“I met yet change these shadows you have shown me Spirit by an altered life” (Stave 4)
He plans to change his ways and realises that only death can be his destiny if he doesn’t not undone what has been done.
His joy after his transformation
“I am as happy as an angel” (Stave 4)
Dickens use religious symbolism of an angel to highlight to the audience that Scrooge has truly changed an purified himself. A very religious audience would have taken this seriously.
His transformed kindness to the Cratchits
“I’ll raise your salary, and endeavour to assist your struggling family” (stave 4)
He shows true moral change, creating a complete juxtaposition to his attitude towards the poor through the beginning of the novella.
