Where do rivers flow?
In channels, in valleys
How do rivers affect the landscape?
They erode it, and transport the material to somewhere else where it is deposited
How does the shape of the valley and the channel depend on the erosion and deposition?
It depend which process is the dominant process and is therefore having the most impact
What does the long profile of a river show you?
The gradient of the river and how it changes over the different courses
What does the cross profile show you?
What the cross section of a river looks like
Upper course features
Valley shape: V-shaped valley, steep sides
Channel shape: narrow, shallow channel
Middle course features
Valley shape: gently sloping valley sides
Channel shape: wider, deeper channel
Lower course features
Valley shape: very wide, almost flat valley
Channel shape: very wide, deep channel
