How do I change the order of tabs, names of tabs in Tableau Server? How can I hide some of my tabs in server?

How fast is Tableau Server?
Tableau Server’s architect is designed to provide highly interactive views to users. You can distribute Tableau Server across multiple hardware infrastructures to utilise the benefits of multi-threading, parallel processing, and data caching.
How scalable is Tableau Server? (How many users can it handle?)
Tableau Server is highly scalable. Tableau Public operates on Tableau Server and facilitates thousands of users daily.
How many users are you expecting to use Tableau? If it’s a small number Tableau Server can be licensed per user with unlimited hardware.
If you are expecting a large number then Tableau Server can be licensed on the hardware with an unlimited number of users.
It is dependent on the needs of the client.
Can I use Tableau Server to deliver a report to the public?
Yes. Tableau Server’s core licensing model includes anonymous access through a guest user. If you need more security then disable the guest user. Tableau supports SSL connections.

What are the requirements for Tableau Server? What else do I need to install? Does it run on Linux?
Tableau Server runs on Windows Server 2003, 2008, or 2008 R2. It is a complete package, no other pre-requisites are required apart from the driver components.
What are the requirements for the web client?
Tableau is entirely web enabled through HTML and web languages (JavaScript). It runs in IE, Firefox and Chrome.
Does it use Active Directory?
Yes. Tableau Server can use either Windows Active Directory, local authentication, or trusted tickets.
Can I embed it in my own portal?
Yes. When you have opened a workbook online click the ‘share’ button, copy the required embedding code and paste it in your portal or CMS.
Can I save my changes to a view?
Yes. Simply just click save the next time you have made your changes to the view. Additionally you can share your newly created view with others.
Why should I buy Tableau Server when Reader is Free?
There are a number of advantages to Server over Reader:
- Reader does not connect live to the data. It requires an extract, where Server can either be a live or extract connection.
- Reader does not provide any security. All the underlying data is viewable, easily accessible and can be forwarded to unwanted viewers. Server includes infrastructure security, permissions and user roles to define who and what can be accessed.
- Tableau Reader requires anyone who needs to view the dashboards to install software on their machine. Server is accessible with a web browser.
- Packaged workbooks can sometimes be considerably large in file size.
Additional features for server include:
- User filters that allow individuals to personalise their view of the data.
- Collaboration between the authors and consumers of the content to explore the data.
- One version of the truth where everyone has the most current data and visualisations.
- Server can automatically refresh extracts on a scheduled basis.
What is the difference between a system admin and a content admin?
Content admins can perform all administrative tasks except for maintenance tasks (server based). Content admins can typically be allowed access to maintain user groups, projects, workbooks, views, permissions, etc.
This prevents them access to system admin configurations, options and defaults that affect users Server wide.
Can I customise Tableau Server?
You can embed your own logo, name and other small tailored configurations. However, what is it are you trying to achieve? Can it be done through embedding your views?
Can I publish a view so that each person only sees their data?
Yes. User filtering can be utilised for this. It provides robust row level security and can be used for cell level security.
What is the benefit of publishing a data source to Data Server?
- Metadata management - one version of the truth regarding data.
- Add, delete, rename fields without writing back to the database.
- Add complex calculations once
- Hide unnecessary fields.

- Central permissions management for sensitive data sources.

Can I schedule the export/cache/pdf?
Yes. Extracts can be scheduled using the Tableau Server interface. Additionally, the Tabcmd utility can generate pdf, images, administer users, and automate other Tableau Server maintenance tasks.
