Skeletal Flashcards
(26 cards)
What is the function of a joint capsule
Function is to lubricate the joint while also acting as a joint absorber
What the definition of flexion
The flexing of the joint where it decreases in size
What is extension
The extending of the joint where it increases in size
What is Rotation
The circular movement around a fixed axis
What is circumduction
The combined movement of flexion extension and rotation to make a circular movement
What is plantarflexion
Movement of the foot going down
What is dorsiflexion
The movement of the foot going upwards
Give an example of flexion
Bicep
Give an example of extension
Bicep,tricep
Give an example of rotation
Neck
Give an example of circumduction
Shoulder (ball+socket)
Give an example of plantar flexion
Toes or feet going downwards
Example of dorsiflexion
Foot or toes going upwards
Name the 5 synovial joints
Hinge joint,ball and socket , pivot joint,saddle joint,gliding joint
Short term effects of Excercise on the skeleton
Synovial is warmed up to make it easier to move becoming less sticky
Long term effects of training of the skeleton
Skeletal tissue becomes stronger by using a criss cross matrix
Cartilage thickens which provides increased protection
Tendons become thicker and stronger being able to withstand greater force
What js isometric
Excercise that involves no movement of the body
Give me an example of a isometric excercise
Plank,wall sits,hold weight ,superman
What is isotonic
Excercise that involves movement
Give me an example of a isotonic
Bicep curls,leg press,squats
What does the concentric contraction involves
It involves the muscle getting shorter and fatter
What does the eccentric contraction involve
Eccentric involves the muscle getting longer and thinner
Give 5 examples of slow twitch muscles
Low impact activities
Contract slowly
Produce less force
Tire slowly
More mitchocondria
5 examples of fast twitch muscles
Less mitchonodria
Tire more quickly
High impact activities
Contract quickly
Produce more force
