Microsociology

study of face to face interactions

teach important and very subtle lessons on gender. Girls are extremely underrepresented in storybooks and television, 80% of characters are male, etc

Childhood

distinct stage of life between infancy to adolescence, and the idea that child labor is wrong is very recent in history

Teenager

biological changes of puberty are universal, some societies celebrate this, and aging out of this varies based on the person

Young Adulthood

stage of exploration, often before one settles on a permanent job, spouse, or home, personal and sexual development is unique to developed societies

Middle Life

most young adults can look forward to a life stretching through old age, have a connection to their parents, and a turning point where people make choices to prepare themselves for their later parts of life
