EDTA tripotassium salt.

Ideal concentration of EDTA.

1.5 mg/ml

Normally seen in buffy coat.

WBCs Platelets
Rare young neutrophilic cells (metamyelocytes, myelocytes)
Megakaryocyte
BUT NOT NRBC!!

Smudge cell formation can be prevented by adding.

1 drop of 22% bovine albumin to 5 drops of blood.

*if seen ocacasionally, normal
*if >25 per 100 WBC, should be reported
