  • promoting harmonious, productive and cooperative workplace relations
  • educating people working in Australia about fair work practices, rights and obligations
  • promoting and monitoring compliance with Cwth. workplace laws
  • investigating complaints
  • investigating, of its own accord, suspected breaches of workplace laws, awards and registered agreements and some Fair Work Commission orders
  • commencing proceedings or making applications to enforce Cwth. workplace laws and, where appropriate, seeks a penalty for contravention of Cwth. workplace laws
  • representing workers who are, or might become, a party to proceedings
  • building strong and effective relationships with industry, unions and other stakeholders
