Flashcards in Steam Generators And Main Steam Deck (11):
1

What is the functions of the steam Generators?

To use the heat of the reactor to turn feed water into dry steam.

2

Describe the primary side flow path thru the Steam Generator.

The primary system flow path through the steam generator is in the bottom hits the divider plate which turns the primary water up through the tubes then back down and out of the steam generator to the RCP.

3

What is the safety function of the main steam system?

To supply steam to the TDAFP.
To cool the core using the PORVs during a blackout.

4

What are the main steam safeties set points?

2 - 1065
2 - 1075
1 - 1085
Each safety is good for 6% of Reactor thermal power.

5

What is the main steam system PORV normal set point and capacity?

1025
Each PORV is good for 2.5% of reactor thermal power.

6

How do the main steam stop valves operate?

Normal Hydraulic to open and close.
Emergency steam pressure is vented off and the steam pressure forces the piston up to close the valve.

7

Describe the secondary side flow path thru the Steam Generator.

In through the feed ring out thru the j tubes which direct the feed water down the outside of the tubes then it flows back up between the tubes and turns to saturated steam. The steam continues to rise thru swirl vans and a torturous path to remove water. The water that is removed falls back down and rejoins the feed water.

8

What steam generators supply steam to the TDAFP?

SG 2 and 3

9

How many steam generator stop valve dump valves have to open to close a steam generator stop valve?

One

10

How do you manually open a steam generator stop valve dump valve?

Isolate control air supply line. Then you vent off the control air supply line. These valves are located in the NESW valve galleries.

11

Where can the PORVs be operated?

Automatic from control room.
Manual from control room.
Manual from HAD panel.
Manual from LSI panel.
Manual hand-wheel at valve.
