stage 1: incubation period

A
  • disease most likely to be transmitted bc asymp
  • S. aureus = 2-4 hours
  • influenza = 2-5 days
  • varicella = weeks
  • HPV = 25 years
    Fast: come w preformed toxins: botulinum toxin, S. aureus toxins (no replication required, can’t do anything about it)
    Slower: organisms have to replicate or go dormant
